Golden Hour — a series of paintings inspired by that last golden hour of the day
The inspiration for this series began with a drive from the Sonoma County coast inland, over Coleman Valley Road, a narrow, mostly-one-lane road crossing the ridge, with beautiful views in every direction. The sun was just setting, and it got even more gorgeous as I drove.
I stopped to take photos wherever I could — or leaned out the window — praying that no one would be coming from the other direction, at least long enough for me to take my photos! Some of the paintings in this series are from that trip, some are of Napa Valley scenes, and some are of western Sonoma County, just west of Petaluma. Each are views at the golden hour — that last, beautiful hour of the day, when the light is magical.
